GENERAL INFORMATION:

The XL Zakopane School of Physics will be held from 20th to 25th May, 2005. The conference is organised by The Henryk Niewodniczanski Institute of Nuclear Physics in Cracow and The Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University. Our conference, for historical reason called School, has been organized since 1963.

     This year we would like to propose to cover the following topics related to physics of low-dimensional systems:

- low-dimensional structures studied with nuclear methods such as Mossbauer spectroscopy, Perturbed Angular  Correlations, X-ray Fluorescence, Synchrotron Radiation, InfraRed Spectroscopy, PIXE, Channeling, RBS;
- submicron structures in medicine and biology prepared and studied with application of ion beams and synchrotron radiation;
- recent achievements in submicron structure preparation and investigation.
